Connecting with God: READ THE BIBLE!!

The Bible isn’t just a book; it’s the Living Word of God, capable of changing your life from the inside out. Reading the whole thing can seem like a big task though—don’t think you’re the only one who started strong only to get bogged down in the “begets” of Leviticus!

Connecting with God: Baptism

If you’re just starting out with a relationship with Jesus Christ, baptism is definitely one of the next steps you’ll want to take to connect with God. It’s not just a symbolic gesture; it’s a powerful act of faith and obedience that is based in Scripture.

By being immersed, you are following Jesus’ example and identifying with His death, burial, and resurrection (Romans 6:4). We expect the same dramatic results that He received in baptism in Mattew 3:13-17—the heavens opened, the Spirit descended, the voice of the Father was heard, and the Spirit led Him to defeat the devil and begin his ministry. Paul compared baptism to Israel’s passing through the Red Sea in their exodus from Egypt (I Cor. 10:2). We claim the promise that the enemies pursuing us from our past are drowned in the waters of baptism!

If you want to be baptized, fill out a Connection Card and check the “I Want to be Baptized” box, sign up at The Hub, or contact any of the Oasis Support staff, Greet Staff or any leader at Oasis during any Experience time!

Connecting with People: LIFE Groups

To keep growing spiritually, you have to engage in spiritual community. When Acts 2 describes the lifestyle of the early church, it says they met daily, shared meals, and had everything in common. The early believers understood how important it was to connect with other Christians. A great way to get involved with spiritual relationships is through our LIFE Groups.

LIFE Groups are small groups where you can meet with other believers for a Bible study, a meal, an activity, or a hobby that you enjoy—or just about anything you can think of. LIFE Groups are constant. They last throughout the year and new ones are being added regularly. Check out the Life Group list on this site or visit The Hub for a list of all groups and contact information for each group! We know there’s a place for you in a LIFE Group.

Connecting with Purpose: Volunteering

When you’re ready for something to really propel your forward in your spiritual walk, it’s time to start serving. There’s no way to explain it; there’s just something about service that makes you feel incredible. The Bible calls the Holy Spirit the Helper. It just makes sense that when you help others, you’ll get closer to the Helper.

At Oasis, there are innumerable places to volunteer. There are jobs for any skill set, and there are places where you can learn something totally new. They range from bagging for Isaiah 58 to running a camera; you can change a diaper, paint a house, or design a Web page. No matter what you decide to do, you’ll be a part of a team that is changing lives!

For more information on volunteering, attend the next "Life Track" meeting that is held the last Saturday of every month in the Coffee Shop. We serve breakfast and you will have the opportunity to meet the entire Oasis leadership team and get connected!

PLEASE EMAIL THE OFFICE AT OFFICE@OASISONLINE.TV if you want to participate in the next Starting Pointe or fill out a CONNECTION CARD and drop in a box at the next Experience Time. You can also visit "The Hub" in the main lobby for more information.
